I completed a Bachelor of Science with specialization in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. During my time in university, I volunteered in an exercise physiology lab studying the effects of heat stress on the human body and participated in intramural sports. Having been a competitive gymnast I am passionate about learning how our bodies move, function, and recover. I am currently furthering and applying my knowledge at Jasper Physiotherapy, while enjoying everything Jasper has to offer.

Rebecca Margel PT
Physiotherapist

Rebecca Margel holds a Master’s of Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland as well as an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa. Rebecca uses an evidence-based, biopsychosocial approach to getting you back to the activities you love. She loves to educate, use exercise as medicine, and manual therapy/IMS to help you get the most out of your rehab. Rebecca is passionate about empowering her patients understand their bodies and giving them the tools to improve their function, mobility, and sport performance. At the end of the day, exercise is medicine. To her, the best feeling in the world is having a patient come back for a follow-up appointment and saying “I did that exercise and I’m starting to feel better” or “my pain is gone” or “I’ve never run that far and felt so good”. Rebecca treats a diversity of people from a spectrum of athletic and cultural backgrounds, of all ages and abilities. From 5k runners to professional rodeo athletes and professional musicians, Rebecca uses critical thinking to help you prevent injury and rehabilitate your body.

MScPT CAFCI FCAMPT

Hi, I’m Sean. I have been the owner of Jasper Physiotherapy & Health Centre since 2009. I initially earned a BSc in Animal Biology from the University of Alberta in 2002 before I came back to the University of Alberta to finish my MSc in Physiotherapy in 2007. In between those degrees I spent some time upgrading, travelling and playing basketball overseas.

After graduating from my physiotherapy program I took expanded coursework in acupuncture and manual therapy. I was certified in medical acupuncture in 2010 and advanced manual and manipulative therapy in 2012. Once these courses were finished I decided to do something a little different to grow professionally and transitioned into the role of President of Physiotherapy Alberta, which acts as both our college and professional body. Over the years I have also taken coursework in order to do bike fittings and run assessments to better serve our very active community. The latest coursework I finished was in vestibular disorders as well as concussion evaluation and treatment which I have been very excited to utilize.

Over the years my practice has changed as my knowledge and experience has grown. I love this community and really enjoy spending time with my patients and strive to help them achieve their rehabilitation goals. I spend a lot of time with my family and in the outdoors climbing and biking so I look forward to getting people back outside doing the things they love with the people they love.

Vanessa McGibbon Physiotherapist Intern
Physiotherapist Intern

Vanessa is a recent graduate of the Physical Therapy program at the University of Alberta and holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Western University in Ontario.

I have specific training in pelvic health physiotherapy to treat pre- and post-partem women as well as incontinence for all genders. I hope to be furthering my studies to include treatment for pelvic pain conditions. Pelvic health is often downplayed, but it is a field that can drastically improve a person’s quality of life with relatively simple treatments.

I moved to Alberta three years ago with the dream of working as a physiotherapist and getting outdoors as often as possible; now my dream has come true! I rock climb, mountain bike, hike, run and really just get out and play however I can. I find joy in learning, growing and helping others do the same. I see no better place to do that than in beautiful Jasper.

I look forward to working with a clientele known for kind hearts and happy spirits.
